H.R.H. the Prince of Girona
H.R.H. the Prince of Asturias and of Girona, Felipe de Borbón y de Grecia, has been the Honorary President of the Foundation that bears his name since its creation in 2009
Felipe de Borbón y de Grecia (Madrid, 30 January 1968) is the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Spain. Baptised as Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso de Todos los Santos de Borbón y de Grecia, he is the third child of King Juan Carlos I de Borbón of Spain and Queen Sofia of Greece and the direct heir to the throne.
He earned a degree in Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid (1993) and a masters degree in International Relations from the Edmund Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University (1995). He has received military training at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza, the Naval Military School of Marín and the General Air Academy of San Javier.
He was a member of Spain's Olympic sailing team at the Barcelona Summer Olympic Games of 1992, taking part in the opening ceremony as the Spanish team's standard bearer.
On 22 May 2004 he married the Asturian journalist Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, with whom he has had two daughters: H.R.H. Infanta Leonor, born on 31 October 2005, and H.R.H. Infanta Sofía, born on 29 April 2007.
Infante of Spain by birth, since 22 January 1977 he has held the titles of Prince of Girona, Prince of Asturias, Prince of Viana and the other historical titles of the first-borns of the various Hispanic kingdoms, and he is styled His Royal Highness. On 30 January 1986, on reaching the age of eighteen years, he swore loyalty to the Constitution and to the King, before the Cortes Generales or Parliament.
In addition to his commitments of State, the Prince of Asturias and of Girona presides over numerous charitable and social organisations, notably including those of the foundations which bear his name: the Prince of Asturias Foundation and the Prince of Girona Foundation.
