Rector of the University of Luxembourg and Former President of the Higher Council of Scientific Research (CSIC)
Rolf Tarrach Siegel (Valencia, 1948) is the Rector of the University of Luxembourg.
Holding a Doctorate by the University of Barcelona, Rolf Tarrach Siegel was Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Universities of Valencia and Barcelona, where he held numerous academic positions. He has also been an advisor on scientific matters to the Generalitat of Catalonia and to the Congress of Deputies. Rolf Tarrach Siegel is specialized in Elementary Particles Theory, Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Information Theory. He was the President of the Higher Council of Scientific Research between the years 2000 and 2003, and since 2005 he has been the Rector of the University of Luxembourg. He has been awarded the Cross of Alfonso X the Learned and the Commandery Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic, as well as numerous national and international prizes, and he is Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Saint Petersburg.
